Azores Islands IGT Series – Sponsorship
The IGT is pleased to announce a partnership with Ilhas de Valor, who manage the two beautiful golf couses on the island of São Miguel – Furnas GC and Batalha GC offering 45 holes of stunning golf and unique scenery – aimed at bringing both professional and amateur golfers to this wonderful golfing destination.
The 3 year agreement is aimed at establishing the São Miguel island, it's golf courses and the Azores as an important partner and venue in the expansion of the IGT across the Iberian peninsula and islands. The IGT project was originally presented to Ilhas de Valor almost a year ago with a view to form part of the Tour, and eventually a program was developed and agreed to, that fulfilled both the IGT and Ilhas de Valor's objectives.
The Azores Islands IGT Series plans on bringing golfers and visitor's to the Azores and with that objective in mind developed a partnership with Golf Loma, a Finnish golf travel company headed by Maarit and Markku Valo, designed to market and bring the region and IGT to the attention of Scandinavian golfers especially over the winter months. A similar partnership is in place with Swiss based Carlos Silva from Golf Au Portugal, and besides developing an event – Pro Am Suisse Vilamoura in February 2011 – for that market, will also present and market the Azores Islands IGT Series to golfers in Switzerland. Various similar partneships are currently under negotiation.
